Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) is collaborating with the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) and the U.S.-ASEAN Smart Cities Partnership (USASCP) to organize an event convening national and sub-national policy makers, academics, and subject matter experts to discuss circular economy principals and the economic, social, and environmental opportunities in Southeast Asia with a focus on Indonesia’s developments to-date. Featured panels across the two-day event will underscore the importance of education and practice of resource circularity across sectors, eg: e-waste and textiles, and share existing industry and NGO models as well as highlight green economy, financing and investment opportunities.
Discussions on key challenges for national and local regulation, opportunities for synergies between public and private stakeholders, and practical applications and case studies of circular economy and entrepreneurship will foster knowledge sharing, networking, and partnership-building to advance the work among USASCP partners, the Government of Japan, and ASEAN stakeholders in promoting the circular economy, entrepreneurship, and sustainable e-waste supply chains.
