The USASCP invited officials from the 26 ASCN pilot cities to speak about their smart city work and needs. The event was held at the Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprason Hotel on the afternoon of August 21, the day before the opening of the ASCN Annual Meeting and ASCN Conference & Exhibition held at the nearby GMM Live House, CentralWorld, August 22-24. Nine of the pilot cities presented details of their city’s priorities and needs to an audience of over 70 which included U.S. government and private sector innovators. Smart city officials also had the opportunity to separately videotape their pitches for posting on the new USASCP website sharing with U.S. public and private sector stakeholders who were unable to attend. The East Asian and Pacific Office of Multilateral Affairs (EAP/MLA) coordinated this event in partnership with the International Trade Administration. On August 23, the USASCP was invited to address the ASCN Annual Meeting in a closed session.
