The U.S-ASEAN Smart Cities Partnership (USASCP) organized a site visit for Washington, DC-based ASEAN stakeholders to raise awareness of smart cities programming and USG investments in addressing urban challenges in the region. DC Water, Washington, DC’s world-class water utility and USASCP peer partner, hosted the group of 22 participants, including representatives from the Department of Commerce and the U.S. Water Partnership.  

DC Water is working with Johor Bahru, Malaysia under the USASCP Water (WiSE) Program and presented on issues of climate resiliency, equity of service and circularity for resource recovery for economic benefit. MLA highlighted USASCP’s multi-sector approach toward advancing smart sustainable cities and its new climate finance Smart Cities Business Innovation Fund open for proposals until April 3. The site visit concluded with a tour of the DC Water HQ, a LEED Platinum building
