Consulate General Ho Chi Minh City’s (HCMC) Foreign Commercial Service with support from the U.S.-ASEAN Smart Cities Partnership (USASCP) hosted the Smart Cities Digital Transformation and Networking event, which gathered 12 U.S. information communication technology companies and the HCMC People’s Committee and started a dialogue among public-private actors to better understand HCMC’s urban challenges.  U.S. companies Dell, Honeywell, UL, and Cubic Transportation Systems presented on their areas of expertise to include computer manufacturing capacity, data monitoring for buildings, and safety.  USASCP briefed on smart cities projects in Vietnam and emphasized economic opportunities in the circular economy approach of decarbonizing industrial processes through innovation, repurposing e-waste, and promoting green buildings.  The National University of Vietnam and the University of Dayton showcased their traffic simulation prototypes and FloodWatch applications.
