In Southeast Asia, traffic has increasingly been an issue, especially with the dramatic economic growth many of the countries have had. There is a disproportionate number of deaths due to road traffic in Southeast Asia.
Many of these deaths are due to the very congested and unorganized streets but implementing smart city technology could help to solve the problem.
USASCP is a key deliverable of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Strategy that seeks to harness U.S. public and private sector expertise to collaborate with the 26 pilot cities of the ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN) in order to meet the varied challenges of rapid urbanization and help improve the lives of people in the region.
